 s during the Second World War. Through archival images and personal accoun
 ts\, he explores the Heroes of Their Day Pokrova icon\, commissioned to ho
 nour those who served. The icon was painted on wood from an ammunition box
  now used in Ukraine's present-day defence\, linking past and present expe
 riences of war. After the talk\, the 60-minute documentary A Canadian War 
 Story follows the Ukrainian Canadian journey from Eastern Europe through C
 anada to the Second World War battlefields. Members enter free\, and non-m
 embers pay seven dollars at the door.
