we crawl saskatoon event pages so we can list them.
you probably found this page because our crawler showed up in your access logs. here's exactly what it does, how to identify it, and how to opt out.
one polite read, once a week.
- cadence: once a week, monday morning saskatoon time. not hourly, not nightly. one read per page per week.
- rate limit: a 250ms pause between detail fetches, one request in flight per host at a time. an entire weekly run against a venue is usually under a dozen requests spread across a minute.
- user-agent: every request sends
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; ConnectYXE-bot/1.0; +https://connectyxe.ca/bot). filter your access logs byConnectYXE-botto see exactly what we touched. - api-first: when your event listings have a public api or json-ld feed (showpass, eventbrite, the events calendar, ics calendars), we use that instead of scraping html.
free traffic back to your ticketing page.
we rewrite event descriptions in our own voice, link your ticketing or rsvp url back to your site, and host any images on our own cdn so we're not eating your bandwidth when our users browse. we don't republish your full marketing copy. users click through to your page to buy tickets.
if you want more control, you can claim or submit your venue for free. claimed venues edit their own page, post events that go live without our review, and see how their listings are performing. no subscription, no contract.
two ways to stop us.
option 1 — robots.txt (self-serve)
add this to your site's robots.txt and we'll stop visiting on the next weekly run:
User-agent: ConnectYXE-bot
Disallow: /we check every host's robots.txt before each scrape and honor it for both our specific user-agent and the wildcard * group.
option 2 — email us
email hello@connectyxe.ca with your venue name and the url you want unlisted. we'll remove your events within 48 hours and add your venue to our do-not-scrape list so future runs skip it too. no questions asked.
we're a small local company.
ConnectYXE is independent and saskatoon-based. if you have questions about the crawler, want to talk about an api partnership, or just want to flag that something we're showing about your venue is wrong, email hello@connectyxe.ca. a real person reads every message.
