cinema at the museum: buena vista social club
Wim Wenders' Oscar-nominated documentary follows American guitarist Ry Cooder as he brings together legendary Cuban folk musicians, some in their 90s, to record a Grammy-winning album in Havana. The film weaves together concert footage from performances in Amsterdam and Carnegie Hall with intimate portraits of the musicians' life stories, capturing both the music and the people behind it. This screening is part of Cinema at the Museum's August series exploring music, performance, and cultural preservation through film. The movie runs 105 minutes and is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $10, and youth under 18 and museum members are free.
